Records Destruction
An important part of any records management plan is knowing when to get rid of them. Many types of information can be scheduled for destruction at the end of a designated retention period, but simply throwing confidential files away risks putting your intellectual property in the hands of identity thieves and corporate competitors. Basic recycling doesn't work either - for someone willing to dig in a filthy dumpster, an unguarded paper drop is going to be an even more attractive target. And amazingly, we see regular reports in the news of discarded confidential documents blowing out of open trucks, outdoor bins, and other unsecured locations. But what is the right answer? Shredding documents onsite uses valuable employee time, and disposing of the resulting shred leaves the possibility that the documents could be reconstructed. Conversely, keeping documents after their useful life can be a storage nightmare, not to mention expensive.
Document Shredding Service
IMS offers a cost-effective solution: we deliver secure shred consoles to your office, then pick up the contents for destruction on a scheduled that fits your needs. Alternately, we can do a large pick-up to help with your end-of-year purge, spring cleaning, or other organization task. When we retrieve your confidential documents, they are locked inside a container before they leave your door and travel via a secure truck. Material from a variety of businesses is subsequently mixed together at our facility for extra privacy, shredded, and sent directly to a paper mill for recycling.
And if you do have long-term secure records storage needs? Documents stored in our records center can be scheduled for destruction when their retention period is up, and an authorized signature will send them through a private door for shredding. A certificate of destruction serves as your proof that the job is done.
